ECB leaves key interest rate unchanged at 2%

The European Central Bank has left its key interest rate unchanged at 2%.

The decision was widely expected, as the ECB tries to stabilise the euro-zone economy amid rising unemployment and declining consumer confidence.

The Bank of England has today reduced interest rates to a record low of 1% in an attempt to boost the shrinking economy.
