Frankfurt airport strike to cancel flights

Lufthansa flight attendants walked off the job today at Germany’s busiest airport to press their demand for higher wages.

The three-hour warning strike at Frankfurt airport was expected to affect 80 flights, with 14 cancellations and scores of delays, the airline said.

The UFO union is seeking a 15% raise for its 600 members, while Lufthansa has so far offered a 6.1% increase over 12 months, and a 3% bonus payment.

Contract negotiations between the airline and the union broke down last Friday.
