ISEQ posts early gains

The ISEQ index of Irish shares began its first post-Christmas session strongly this morning, rising 23.23 points to 2,360.35 by 11.30am.

Major firms on the risers board included Elan Corp, up 20c to 4.26; Kerry Group, up 35c to 13.74; Paddy Power, up 32c to 12.82, and CRH, rising 15c to 18.10.
