The Financial Regulator has launched an investigation into Anglo Irish Bank following the resignation of its chairman amid a scandal involving personal loans totalling almost €90m.
Sean Fitzpatrick has admitted taking steps over a number of years to hide the loans from showing up in the bank's annual report.
