The ISEQ index of Irish shares closed down 38 points at 2,473 by market close.
The majority of the financial heavyweights were down, Allied Irish Bank fell 7c to €1.90 with Anglo Irish Bank and Bank of Ireland both falling 6c to 30c to 92c respectively. Irish Life and Permanent bucked the negative trend gaining a modest 4c to €1.70.
