The ISEQ index of Irish shares followed the Dow and the FTSE downwards in morning trading, falling 43.63 points to 2,631.60 by 1pm.
Among the gainers were Aer Lingus and Greencore, up 6c to 1.60 and 3c to 0.96 respectively, while Irish Life & Permanent also rose 2c to 1.73.
