ISEQ up 5%

The ISEQ index of Irish shares soared this evening, up 5% (144 points) to 2,625.95 by market close.

There were gains for all the financial heavyweights with AIB leading the way jumping an impressive 30c to €2.27. Irish Life and Permanent followed suit up 17c to €1.80, with Bank of Ireland close behind gaining 13c to €1.11. Anglo Irish Bank jumped a modest 4c to 55c per share.
