The ISEQ index of Irish shares was up 80.09 points to 2,552.67 by 1pm.

The ISEQ index of Irish shares was up 80.09 points to 2,552.67 by 1pm.

Banks were among the risers, with AIB, Bank of Ireland and Irish Life & Permanent recording solid gains. AIB was up 30c or 12.5% to 2.70, BOI rose 17c or 12.32% to 1.55 and IL&P spiked 16.91%, posting a gain of 23c to 1.59.
