Bank of Ireland shares up 19% amid merger reports

Bank of Ireland's share price has increased by almost 19% this morning amid reports that the company may be merged with Irish Life and Permanent.

The move is believed to be under consideration by the Government as part of a plan to recapitalise Irish-owned banks with taxpayers' money and private investments.
