Asian stocks have fallen for a third straight day as investors flee emerging markets on signs that turmoil in the financial system may trigger a severe global economic slowdown.

Every major regional benchmark has dropped today, led by Japan’s Nikkei 225, which was down 533.66 points, or 6.31%, to 7,927.32 in afternoon trading. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index was down 4.82%.
