The Central Bank has predicted that the economy will contract both this year and next in its fourth-quarter bulletin.

The bank said that gross domestic product will fall 0.8% in 2008, compared with a growth of 0.6% in guidance previously given, and fall 0.6% in 2009, compared with 6% growth in 2007.
