Brown: Govt's bank guarantee must comply with EU law

Britsh Prime Minister Gordon Brown has said he wants the Irish Government to ensure that its bank deposit guarantee complies with EU competition law.

The Government is to complete the passage through the Dáil of a multi-billion State guarantee of top banks today.
