Internet search engine Google has announced that it is cutting in half the length of time it retains the IP addresses of those who log onto its site.

Internet search engine Google has announced that it is cutting in half the length of time it retains the IP addresses of those who log onto its site.

The company says it will now 'anonymise' the addresses after only nine months instead of the current 18.
