Fruit distribution company Fyffes has dropped its forecast for 2008 earnings, saying the outlook for the second half of the year has deteriorated since the group's last trading update on June 25.

Fruit distribution company Fyffes has dropped its forecast for 2008 earnings, saying the outlook for the second half of the year has deteriorated since the group's last trading update on June 25.

The company blamed an increase in the cost of fruit, coupled with a strengthening of the US dollar against the euro and sterling and high fuel prices for the gloomier outlook.
