Almost £40m (€50.5m) has been knocked off the value of construction work being undertaken in the North in the last year, new figures indicated today.

Almost £40m (€50.5m) has been knocked off the value of construction work being undertaken in the North in the last year, new figures indicated today.

Activity in the building market in the first quarter of this year was down from £563m (€711.4m) to £525m (€663.3m) - a 6.7% drop on the same period in 2007 - according to latest British government research.
