Construction output down 22% in first quarter

Output in the construction sector was down by nearly 22% in the first quarter of this year, according to the latest figures from the Central Statistics Office.

The figures are a further sign of the massive slump in the housing market, with residential building down 38% compared to the same period in 2007.
