Equitable Life victims may get compensation

Victims of the Equitable Life pensions scandal eight years ago could be in line for compensation from the British government.

The Parliamentary Ombudsman in the UK says the government should provide compensation as a result of "serious regulator failure".

More than one million customers, including 8,000 in Ireland, were affected by the near-collapse of Equitable Life in 2000

The British Treasury is promising to respond to the Ombudsman's report this autumn.
