Irish inflation rate among lowest in EU countries

Ireland's inflation rate is among the lowest in the EU, according to the latest figures from Eurostat.

The statistics agency says Ireland's inflation rate is 3.7%, which is the average among the 15 countries that use the euro and just below the average across all 27 member states.

Latvia has the highest inflation at 17.7%.

Eurostat uses a different methodology to determine inflation known as the harmonised index of consumer prices.

The Central Statistics Agency, which compiles Ireland's Consumer Prices Index, put the Irish inflation rate at 4.7% last month.
