Northern Foods secures profits boost

Northern Foods unveiled higher-than-expected profits today after the Fox’s biscuits firm successfully recovered “significant” cost increases.

The group, which supplies retailers including Marks & Spencer, benefited from improved trading in its chilled foods and bakery divisions as profits from continuing operations lifted £10m (€12.5m) to £50.1m (€62.8m).
