Finance-to-aviation giant General Electric today sent stocks tumbling after worse-than-expected results sparked fears over Wall Street’s first quarter results season.

The conglomerate – seen as an industrial bellwether in the US – took markets by surprise with news of a 6% fall in net income to $4.3bn US (€2.71bn).
