The Irish index of Irish shares faltered this morning, down 79.23 points to 6157.83 by 11.15am.

The Irish index of Irish shares faltered this morning, down 79.23 points to 6157.83 by 11.15am.

The majority of the financial heavyweights suffered a loss, with AIB taking the biggest hit losing 30c off its share price to €13.40. Bank of Ireland fell 13c to €9.27 and Anglo Irish Bank followed suit, down 8c to €7.94. Irish Life and Permanent bucked the negative trend with a gain of 12c to €12.15.
