The Bank of England today pumped another £5bn (€6.4bn) into money markets as it met the bosses of Britain’s biggest banks.

The Bank doubled the weekly funding available to banks and lenders to £10.93bn (€14bn) in the latest of a series of moves to avert a new devastating twist in the credit crunch.
