The ISEQ-index of Irish shares staved off any worrying losses this morning despite a shaky start on the global market.

There was a mixed bag of fortunes for the financial sector. AIB climbed 9c to €13.41, IL&P jumped 27c to €11.07, while Anglo fell 28c to €9.30. Bank of Ireland made a modest 2c gain at €9.17.
