Women are becoming increasingly active in trade unions and are taking up more senior posts, although progress is slow and patchy, according to a report today.

Two of the top 10 unions now have female general secretaries, union delegations to conferences are becoming less male-dominated and more unions are achieving a gender balance among their national officials, a study by Labour Research found.
