Economic gloom not stopping shoppers

Gloomy predictions about the economy haven’t stopped consumers shopping or taking foreign holidays, official figures revealed today.

The Christmas shopping frenzy saw sales up on the previous bumper year while more than half a million people took off on overseas trips over the festive period.
