UK shares surge after Wall Street recovery

London’s leading shares rode a wave of optimism from US markets today as the FTSE 100 Index soared more than 4% higher.

Investors were buoyed by a sharp recovery last night as Wall Street’s Dow Jones Industrial Average closed with a 300-point gain.
