The Iseq index of Irish shares has endured a torrid morning, slumping 108.13 points to 7,089.43 by 11am.

The Iseq index of Irish shares has endured a torrid morning, slumping 108.13 points to 7,089.43 by 11am.

Financials were the main culprits in the downturn with Irish Life and Permanent tumbling 78c to €14.37 and AIB down 68c to €14.75, while Anglo Irish Bank fell 33c to €10.07. The Bank of Ireland slipped 55c to €9.85.
