Northern Rock to scale back charity donations

Northern Rock's charitable foundation is to "scale back" the amount of cash it hands out to good causes after the bank was plunged into crisis.

The foundation, which gets 5% of Northern Rock's pre-tax profits every year, is the region's biggest charity benefactor.
