UK Consumer Prices Index falls to 1.8%

The UK Consumer Prices Index (CPI) fell to 1.8% in August from 1.9% in July, official figures showed today.

The underlying rate of Retail Prices Index inflation remained unchanged in August at 2.7%, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said.

The headline rate of RPI inflation, which includes mortgage interest payments, rose from 3.8% in July to 4.1% in August, the ONS said.
