EU members' govts warned to comply with consumer laws

European governments were warned today to step up efforts to comply with EU laws for the benefit of consumers and business.

European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso was announcing plans to crack down on failures to implement the rules, and to speed up the current lengthy legal procedures designed to bring member states into line.
