EasyJet to maintain fare cuts
Budget airline easyJet today pledged to keep up the low-cost carrier price war throughout the peak summer season as it strives to fill its planes.
The group said it would continue to slash fares after launching a series of cut price deals in recent weeks, including offers of up to 30% off flights in June and July.
EasyJet revealed it carried 13.8% more passengers last month at 3.3 million and kept its “load factor” – the measure of how well carriers fill planes - broadly in line in with last May thanks to the fare cuts.
However, the no-frills airline expects its revenue per passenger seat to fall by up to 10% in the second half as it ramps up promotions to increase demand.
