Fashion chain French Connection today said it was putting last year’s financial troubles behind it as recent sales growth pointed to the “start of a new phase”.

The group saw 3% like-for-like sales growth in its UK and Europe retail division over the three months to the end of April, offering hope that 2007 will not see a repeat of the double digit profit falls seen in the past two years.
