Quinn Group to begin legal challenge against new legislation

Health insurer Quinn Group has today announced that it has no option but to challenge the legality of the emergency legislation on risk equalisation exemption introduced by the Government in February.

The company said in a statement today: "Other than legislating for a subsection of one of the twelve recommendations in the Barrington Report, and the two previous reports from the Competition Authority and HIA, and initiating another endless round of consultations, the Government has not taken any firm action that address the impediments to fair competition whilst we are forced to continue to subsidise Vhi inefficiencies.
