The world’s leading software company Microsoft saw quarterly profits soar to record levels amid strong demand for its Windows Vista programme, it emerged today.

Microsoft said net profits rose to $4.93bn (€3.6bn) in the three months to March 31, up from $2.98bn (€2.2bn) in the same period last year.
