Laura Ashley doubles annual profits

British clothing and home furnishings retailer Laura Ashley today said strong gift and fashion sales helped it double its annual profits haul.

The group posted a 100% rise in pre-tax profits to £12.2m (€17.9m) for the year to January 27 – its highest level in 10 years.
