Sanisbury's cooled by pensions concern
UK supermarket chain Sainsbury’s shares were under pressure today after it was reported that private equity suitors faced a potential £3bn (€4.4bn) pensions hurdle.
The warning from the trustees of the retailer’s pension fund is seen as a potential stumbling block to any deal being considered by interested bidders, which at present involves a private equity consortium led by CVC.
