ITV today rejected a merger proposal from cable company NTL just days after BSkyB took a stake in the broadcaster.
The move by BSkyB put Rupert Murdoch at loggerheads with Richard Branson, NTL’s largest shareholder, as the battle for control of ITV heated up.
