EU jobless figures steady

The EU’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate held steady at 8% in August, while in the 12-nation euro-zone unemployment edged up to 7.9% from 7.8% in July, the statistics agency Eurostat reported today.

It said the 8% rate for the 25-nation EU compared with 8.7% in August 2005.
