Consumer confidence improved slightly in July following three months of decline, according to the latest consumer sentiment index published by IIB Bank and the ESRI.

The two organisations say strong economic growth, hopes for a generous budget, the summer sales, easy access to credit and the maturing of the first SSIAs all led to last month's improvement.
