Labour Court issues recommendations on Aer Lingus dispute

The Labour Court has issued its recommendations on the dispute at Aer Lingus.

SIPTU shop stewards at the airline are to meet tomorrow morning to consider the contents.

The unrest at the national carrier is due to Government plans to sell off the majority stake to private investors.

This dispute centres on the privatisation of the State airline and union concerns over security of employment and working conditions.

The Labour Court had a hearing on the issue last week and today issued its recommendations to both sides.

It is understood that they meet some of the union's concerns.

Tomorrow morning, shop stewards at Aer Lingus will meet to decide the next step.

They will either go back to the court for clarification or agree to present the proposals to their members.

The airline workers would then be balloted.
