Microsoft faces new fine over EU competition ruling

European Union regulators who hit Microsoft with a record €500m fine are poised to announce new penalties today that could cost the company hundreds of millions for not complying with the landmark ruling.

Competition commissioner Neelie Kroes needs only the backing of European Commission colleagues after winning unanimous support from national competition authorities last week to carry out her threat of fines.
