Live Register figures up in June

The seasonally adjusted Live Register total increased from 158,800 in May to 160,300 in June, an increase of 1,500.

This compares with an increase of 600 in May.

In the year to June 2006, there was an unadjusted increase of 3,759 (+2.4%). This compares with an unadjusted increase of 1,734 (+1.1%) in the year to May 2006.

Other features include:

* The standardised unemployment rate in June was 4.5%. This compares with 4.4%, the latest seasonally adjusted unemployment rate from the

Quarterly National Household Survey.

* In the month, the estimated number of casual and part-time workers on the Live Register was 7,740 males and 12,439 females.
