United States stock market Nasdaq bought a 15% stake in the London Stock Exchange for £447.5m (€644m) today.

United States stock market Nasdaq bought a 15% stake in the London Stock Exchange for £447.5m (€644m) today.

Nasdaq bought 38.1 million shares for 1175p each to value the LSE at £3.01bn (€4.33bn).

The price paid by Nasdaq was well ahead of the 950p a share takeover bid it had rejected last month and represented a premium on tonight’s closing price of 1038.5p.
