The European Union today adopted anti-dumping duties on Chinese and Vietnamese leather shoes.

In Brussels, the EU said trade penalties were necessary to act against a flood of cheap imports from the two countries, which it says broke world trade rules.

The EU Commission said it “identified clear evidence of disguised subsidies and unfair state intervention to the leather footwear sector in China and Vietnam”.
