SIPTU hoping to minimise impact of Wyeth job cuts

SIPTU officials are due to meet management at Wyeth Medica in Co Kildare today following the US pharmaceutical firm's decision to lay off one-sixth of the plant's workforce.

The company said yesterday that it would be phasing out 250 jobs in Newbridge over the next two years due to reduced demand for several products manufactured in the town.
