Surge in number of vehicles licenced

There were 24,605 new private cars licensed in January 2006, compared with 19,992 in January 2005, an increase of 23.1%, the Central Statistics Office (CSO) said today.

First licensing of second-hand private cars increased by 1,541 (80.2%) on the same month last year.
