Barroso hopeful of budget deal next week

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso today said he believed deal on the EU’s future financing was possible next week, but said all sides in the bitter debate had to make concessions.

Following talks with Prime Minister Tony Blair, Barroso said he hoped revised proposals to be made by Britain next week would break the logjam.
