The ISEQ index of Irish shares has risen 34.41 points in morning trade to 6926.29 today.
Most financial stocks performed well. Bank of Ireland saw the largest increase, up 17c to €13.35, while AIB was up 13c to €18.21. Anglo Irish Bank rose 10c to €11.65. Irish Life and Permanent bucked the trend, falling 10c to €15.30.
