Harney rules out reintroduction of property taxes

The Tánaiste Mary Harney has ruled out the reintroduction of property taxes as a means of raising extra funds for the Exchequer.

Reports this morning said the move had been recommended by the National Competitiveness Council as the share of tax currently collected from property in Ireland was relatively low.
