A leading international consultancy firm has claimed Irish shoppers are planning to spend 8% more on Christmas gifts this year than they did in 2004.

According to Deloitte, 84% of Irish respondents to a survey it carried out in nine European countries said they were planning to spend as much if not more than they did last year.
